Style on “POINT”

Come September, when it’s still sunny and seventy-five, you can expect to take a trip to the Point on a Saturday afternoon. Trends can be hard to follow, but I am here to help you discover some of the cutest, and most comfortable, outfits that would fit in perfectly on Fairfield’s beach! Whatever your style may be, there are a plethora of options for you to choose from when prepping for your day at the Point. Coming out of this Summer, we have seen several old-school trends rebirth. First off… Denim. Whether it be a pair of Mom jeans or a distressed jean jacket, you should definitely have a Denim staple in your closet. One of my favorite up-and-coming trends is fringe jeans, which are so cute and can spice up every look! Throughout this past year, Denim has completely regained control of the fashion world. At a Point Day, an oversized, distressed Denim jacket can complete an outfit, not to mention it will be nice to have when the wind picks up at the beach. Another blast from the fashion world’s past can be seen in the re-rise of patterns. Particularly, Gingham and Florals have surprisingly taken the fashion world by storm in these past few months. When playing with patterns, don’t be afraid to step out of the fashion box and mix these mediums with bold colors. Lilly Pulitzer, for instance, does just that. Her line of vibrant, colorful, floral dresses are not only gorgeous, but definitely a go-to outfit for a Point Day. If you’re looking for a more muted look, grab your favorite pair of white jeans and match it with a trendy Gingham top. These patterns are not only fashion-forward, but they are so easy to achieve by shopping small. Apricot Lane, for example, has some of the best, one of a kind finds that are totally on trend for a Point Day. Being too “matchy matchy” may be a thing from the past, but throughout this Summer, two-piece sets have completely dominated the fashion industry... and I am totally here for it! Two-piece sets not only minimize the stress of picking out an outfit, but they exemplify a modern take on casual wear. My favorite part about two-piece sets is the variety; with bottoms like shorts and pants, and tops ranging anywhere between bandeaus and midriff crop-tops, the opportunities for these adorable sets are endless! Plus, if you’re not into flaunting your stomach, there are definitely two-piece sets you can buy that show less skin. No matter your body type, you will totally be able to find a two-piece set that is not only on trend for a Point Day, but that also flatters your figure. Now, if you find your Point Day outfit needing a little something extra, I have one word for you… accessories! One of my favorite things to do is accessorize, and a cute, trendy pair of sunglasses work perfect for a Point Day. If you’re looking to play it safe, Aviators never go out of style. Ray-Ban is one of – if not the – most recognized sunglasses brand around the world and it has completely been adopted by the fashion world. With a variety of customizable frames and lenses, Ray-Ban takes the classic Aviator style sunglasses to the next level. I’m also a fan of glasses that are more unique, like Quay’s Hollywood Nights, OTL, or Cat Eye frames. In my opinion, Quay epitomises ‘cool’ with their modern take on a variety of retro styles. If you’re looking for other ways to spice up your Point Day outfit, statement earrings are having a major moment in fashion right now. One of my absolute favorite trends coming out of this Summer are ball-drop and tassel earrings. BaubleBar is the perfect site for any jewelry fiend and they have TONS of these trendy earrings. These earrings are not only a really easy accessory to wear, but they can make any casual outfit look dressier. These statement earrings are playful, grown-up, and chic all at the same time. They are both simple and bold, but not too overwhelming for a Point Day.
By incorporating some of these up-and-coming trends into your wardrobe come September when you take a trip to the beach, you can expect your style to be on “Point.”

XOXO- Lily
